Cataracts occur when the lens of the eye becomes cloudy. This is a gradual process which usually occurs over many years. Cataracts cause increased glare sensitivity, blurry distance vision and can make it difficult to read small print.

Age and UV exposure are the primary cause of cataracts.

Cataracts are treated surgically. The natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial (intra-ocular) lens.
