    Breathable and comfortable

Over the last 10 years contact lens technology has changed considerably. If you previously had problems wearing lenses, it is likely that you will find them far more comfortable now. Improvements to lens designs has resulted in lenses that are more comfortable and easier to handle. New silicon hydrogel materials have improved the amount of oxygen that the eye receives so that there is no longer any compromise to the health of the eyes. Surface treatments have also reduced problems of dryness allowing longer wearing times with excellent all day comfort.

At Eyes On Optometrists we are committed to giving you access to the latest in contact lens technologies.

    Daily Contact Lenses

Daily disposable contact lenses are a good option for those who only want to wear contact lenses occasionally or who don't want the hassle of cleaning lenses. You simply wear the lenses for a day and throw them out at night. Replacing the lenses every day and not having to use cleaning solutions reduces the chances of developing allergic reactions or discomfort when wearing your lenses.

The last 12 months has seen a revolution in daily disposable contact lenses. With the release of Cooper Vision MyDay Daily, Alcon Dailies Total 1 and Bausch and Lomb Biotrue One Day, lenses have never been more comfortable and easier to wear. Changes to the designs and materials have resulted in lenses that are more breathable, resistant to drying and more comfortable. Our patients are finding that these newer generation lenses are allowing them to wear the lenses longer due to improved comfort.

    Frequent Replacement Contact lenses

Frequent replacement contact lenses are a more cost effective option for those who intend to wear the lenses frequently. Lenses are replaced every two weeks or every month. Frequent replacement lenses have a much larger range of parameters than daily disposables so we can fit a wider range of prescriptions. The lenses use newer silicon hydrogel lenses so there is no compromise to the health of the eye.

Frequent replacement lenses need to be removed each night, cleaned and disinfected.

    Extended Wear Contact Lenses

It is not always convenient or practical to remove and clean your lenses each night. Extended wear contact lenses are specially designed to allow you to wear the lenses continuously for a period of time. The lenses are then replaced. The period will depend on how well your eyes tolerate the lenses and can be up to a month.

Not all contact lenses are suitable for extended wear. Before commencing any extended wear you need to have a thorough examination with your optometrist to asses the health of your eye and to determine your suitability. Health checks are usually scheduled more frequently than with other contact lenses.

    Multifocal Contact lenses

Multifocal contact lens technology allows us to correct both distance and near vision without the need for using a pair of glasses over the contact lenses. These lenses use simultaneous vision technology. The lens has different zones which focuses at distance and near. This enables you to see things up close and in the distance.
