A new treatment for Dry Eye

We recently started IPL Dry Eye Therapy at Eyes On Docklands. Using intense pulsating light this treatment gently heats the lids of the eye unblocking the glands as well as promoting blood flow to the eyelids. It has been shown to improve the function of the oil producing meibomian glands on the eyelids. Poorly functioning meibomian glands are a common cause of dry eye.

Prior to undergoing IPL treatment each patient is assessed using the oculus keratograph to determine the underlying cause of the dry eye. Typically a person will undergo four half an hour treatments with follow up appointments for the condition.
