JOHN JALOWICKI

John is the founding partner at Eyes On Optometrists. He completed his optometry degree at Melbourne University in 1979 and after working at the University for a short time started our Rosebud practice. He also went on to study Audiometry (hearing) though he no longer practices in this area.

John was the first Eyes On member to complete his therapeutics degree, enabling him to prescribe a wide range of medications to treat common eye conditions. John is our specialist contact lens practitioner and has considerable experience in fitting keratoconic contact lenses. He has been certified to prescribe the Synergy hybrid lens.

John works at our Collins Square, Warrandyte and Rosebud store.

In his spare time, John has been restoring an old country Pub.

JOHANNA ARENDSEN

Jo graduated in 1993 and is a founding partner at Eyes On. Her interests include contact lenses, laser vision correction and computer related vision problems. She also works extensively with leading eye specialists in providing pre and post operative eye care.

When not at work, Jo enjoys spending time with her three children.

Jo works at our Queen Street store.

DR ALAN JOHNSTON

Dr Alan Johnston is a former Reader and Associate Professor of the Department of Optometry at the University of Melbourne. He has a keen interest in helping people with low vision and was one of the first sessional optometrists at the Association for the Blind’s Kooyong Low Vision Clinic. Dr Johnston regularly lectures overseas and continues to visit China were he lectures students on assisting patients with low vision.

Dr Johnston has now retired from clinical work. He does however still work part time at our Southgate practice fitting and aligning low vision telescopic systems.

OLYMPIA KOTSOS

Olympia graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1995. She has worked in CBD practices for most of her career, in addition to owning an independent practice in Elwood for several years.

Olympia has a keen interest in ocular disease, management of dry eye and contact lenses and is the main optometrist at our new Collins Square practice. Outside of work, you will find Olympia at the gym or enjoying time with her daughter.

Olympia works at our Collins Square and Warrandyte stores.

MICHAEL KOZULIN

Michael graduated from Melbourne University in 1998 and has gone on to complete his therapeutics qualifications enabling him to prescribe a wide range of medications to treat eye disease. In 2003 he became a member of the College of Optometry, City University London. Michael has interests in the area of ocular disease management, dry eye and specialty contact lens fitting.

When not at work, Michael enjoys indoor volleyball and kayaking.

Michael works at our Somerville store.

Bianca Larne

Doctor Of Optometry(Melb Uni)

Bianca is a dedicated optometrist committed to a patient-centered approach, emphasizing the connection between eye health and overall well-being. A graduate of the University of Melbourne’s Doctor of Optometry program (Class of 2022), she has enriched her experience through voluntary placements in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and school screenings.

With a passion for pediatric and behavioral eye care, Bianca holds accreditation from the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists in Practical Vision Therapy. She focuses on understanding her patients’ learning styles, occupations, and aspirations to provide holistic vision care that empowers them at every stage of life.

Inspired by the impact of ocular issues on loved ones, Bianca is dedicated to helping both children and adults achieve their full potential through improved vision. Her comprehensive and advanced care includes pediatric and behavioral vision care, as well as co-managing conditions such as glaucoma and diabetic eye care. Her empathy, initiative, and strong communication skills distinguish her practice.

Bianca currently works at our Dromana practice. 

Anthony Liska

Anthony graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1995. He has worked any various locations throughout Victoria including Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and Wagga Wagga. He previously owned his own practices in Carrum Downs, Langwarrin and Melton.
Anthony has an interest in contact lenses, dry eye disease, ocular health and problems with focusing and digital eyestrain. He has mentored a number of optometry students.

Anthony works at our Somerville store. In his spare time, he enjoys photography and bushwalking

Sharon Ly

Bachelor of Optometry (Melb Uni)

Sharon completed her Bachelor of Optometry degree from The University of Melbourne in 2013. She began her journey in the industry in 2009 and has accumulated a wealth of experience in both private and corporate optometry.

Her dedication to the profession extends beyond clinical work as she has taught optometry students during their placements at the Australian College of Optometry and in a preclinical setting at Melbourne University.

Sharon firmly believes that education is crucial, and that patient education is key to maintaining good eye health. Her interests lie in children’s vision and the management of dry eyes, as these are areas where she is particularly passionate about making a difference.

Sharon currently works at our Dromana practice. In her spare time, she enjoys playing badminton and watching Korean dramas

KURT MECHKAROFF

Kurt completed his degree in 1990 and is a founding partner of Eyes On. He started his career working in country Victoria and has gone on to complete a Masters in Optometry. Part of his Masters degree included Behavioural Optometry an area which focuses on Children’s vision and vision related learning problems. He has attended a number of overseas conferences and has completed the Grand Rounds training program at the University of New York. Kurt is an accredited disability assessor for the US Veterans Evaluation Service. His interests include Children’s vision, contact lenses and dry eye.

Kurt works at our Southgate store.

In his spare time he enjoys cycling and travel.

MATTHEW SMITH

Matthew is a founding partner of Eyes On and is our General Manager. He is a qualified optical dispenser and works at our Collins Square store. Matthew has also completed a Bachelor of Business.

When not working Matthew is a keen cyclist and rower.

JAN UNGERER

Certificate in Sports Vision

Jan completed her optometry degree in 1994 and has gone on to complete a Masters degree and certificate in sports vision. She enjoys all areas of optometry and has particular interests in ocular disease, contact lenses and sports vision.

Jan works part time at our Warrandyte store.

Richard Wales

Richard graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1982.  After working briefly in private practice, he was poached by Coles and Garrard to be a specialist contact practitioner.  He is an active member of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA) and served for over a decade on the CCLSA Victorian State committee. 

After 26 years in corporate optometry, he became a locum/relief optometrist travelling to all states of Australia including remote locations.  Richard joined Eyes On in 2021, and works at our Somerville and Rosebud stores. 

Richard enjoys wine collecting and competes in Motorsport as a hobby.

ROS WELLS

Ros graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2002. She has worked as a clinician at the Australian College of Optometry and as a locum in country Victoria for the Optometry Association. Her interests include ocular disease, contact lenses and laser surgery. She is therapeutically qualified and is pleased to be able to prescribe ocular medications to manage eye infections and inflammation.

Ros works part time at our Queen Street store.

Ros has two gorgeous you children and enjoys playing tennis and reading in her spare time.
